West Michigan Mid-Sixties Releases
One of the most over looked garage bands from Fenton is "Our Generation" - every member is still active in the business. Patrick Dawdy recently wrote and produced a soundtrack for an independent film with actor James Karen called "Flickering Blue" which won numerous film festival awards and has a cd available at Amazon.com on the Planet5 label called "Songs from the resistance volume 1" which kicks!

Posted by: caleb at November 20, 2005 06:27 AMThought all of you Grand Rapids Rockers would like to know that a couple (at least!) of Fenton bands are on the ballot for induction into the Michigan Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. They are "Me and Dem Guys" and "Our Generation" so........... google Michigan Rock and Roll Legends and vote, vote vote!!
Posted by: Patrick at January 15, 2009 03:21 PMTo anyone who cares, I was the drummer in Tonto and the Renegades. Our song "Little Boy Blue" was inducted into Michigan Rock And Roll Legends as the number 14 all-time Legendary Rock and Roll song by a Michigan artist. We recorded at the Fenton Studio in Sparta in 1967.It's quite an honor. Voting for 2009 is now open, so check it out and vote for your favorite Fenton artist. Thanks to those of you who voted for us in 2008.

Last year, our one record "Little Boy Blue" was inducted as the number 14 all time legendary R&R song by a Michigan artist. I hope the band makes it in this year. So come on Fenton Fans and go vote. Posted by: Tom Kirby at January 7, 2010 07:31 AMNo problem Tom! Good luck. People who are aware of the history of Mid-Michigan rock and roll in the late 1960's will vote for both bands. OUR GENERATION and TONTO and the RENEGADES! We are a positive part of "the link".
