West Michigan Mid-Sixties Bands
One of the greatest small town folk-rock bands from the late 1960's. Fantastic harmonies . . . just a lot of energy and fun.
Posted by: Don at June 24, 2004 01:56 PMDid the band move to California and make another record besides the one on Scott/Decca? I have the copy on Decca, and it sounds GREAT!!
Posted by: Jim at October 29, 2005 05:58 PMThe band stayed in Michigan and produced another record titled, "That Was the Time." Flip side: "Silver Bells and Toy Balloons." Some of the members live in Florida now, and a couple are in Michigan.
Posted by: Sassy at August 3, 2006 12:44 AMJim,
Where did you get your copy? Do you want to sell it?
The band never went to California. Some of the members are still performing in other groups though.

I played keyboards and sang a little harmony with the band after Mark left. The band broke up in 1972. I ran into Mike at a high school choral festival about twenty years ago. I taught with Pete Fullenwider for a year at Mar Lee School and met him at the Lakeview Mall in Battle Creek about fifteen years ago. Haven't heard from any other members. I would like to.
I was the singer in the Merrie Motor Company. I see there are some nice remarks from previous friends and members. Sorry we never did more with the music. See a lot of friends who remember also on Facebook. We never made it to California and that was too bad - I remember getting other offers with groups - wish I had taken them. You never know!!
Cynthia, Marcia, this post is now old, but for some reason tonight I decided to search the Merrie Motor Company because I remember watching this band practice out back in our neighborhood. Always wondered how the story came out. Peace Out, Glen
