West Michigan Mid-Sixties Bands
Ahhh..... The Barons - I remember one of their 1st gigs @ Aberdeen Park!! Just a place to play, anyplace, in those days... This must have been the mid 60's - '64 or '65 prolly.
That's my 'big' brother on the guitar, (the short guy - Dick Gates (Steimle)).
Mandrill Fern on drums - man!! What a gas!!
I miss those days...
Posted by: Jim Steimle at September 26, 2004 11:50 AMOh... I forgot to mention - I have the only record these guys put out - still has the "Arlens" price sticker. Still in good shape too...
Email me for an mp3
Posted by: Jim Steimle at September 26, 2004 11:55 AMWOW! I'm stunned by this!!!! I went to school with Rutkowski (Marquette) and had him working as a DJ on my old pirate radio station in 1965. Used to go over to their managers Grandmas house over on Travis St. to watch them jam in their basement studio and record on Kemp's reel-to-reel tape deck! I have two copies of their single; "Try A Love With Me", b/w "Don't Come Back No More"! I hear their worth their weight in gold now.
Man, let's talk sometime! TOM.
P.S. When you e-mail me back you may find your message "undeliverable", but pay that no mind. It comes through OK. Netzero e-mail is just sucky.
Posted by: Tom Olejniczak at January 4, 2006 11:46 PMHey Tom Olenjniczak, I've been trying to reach you for years. Bump me back, would you. Haven't talked to you in years man. This is a real cool place. I've run into allot of band members in here from the 60's, 70's, and 80's era. I've hooked up with allot of them. I have fond memories from that time in my life. You know I was a bartender in many clubs back in those days and had a front row seat every night to hear 100's of bands play. E-mail me at thelineman16@comcast.net . Doug Taylor
